CONTACT TIPS
The contact tip guides the welding wire to the weld and transfers the current from the torch to the wire. The right material, a tight bore tolerance and a smooth inner surface reduce wire friction, smooth the wire feed and keep the arc stable.
All our contact tips are made of CuCrZr. Harder and more heat-resistant than pure copper, the alloy keeps its shape under high current and long duty cycles; the tip wears later and the line stops less.
The bore must match the wire: too wide reduces contact, too tight hinders the wire feed.
The bore must be centred on the tip axis so the wire exits straight and the arc does not drift.
A smooth bore reduces friction and adhesion and keeps the wire feed stable.
A wear- and heat-resistant tip; unusual deposits or wire jams signal wear.
